What does sustainability mean to you?
Being sustainable can be applied to pretty much all aspects of our lives. For me, it means whatever it is you’re doing, there is little to no impact on nature and your surroundings.
What does your ideal day look like?
I wake up slowly, sit on my porch overlooking the mountains with my best friend (my dog River) beside me. I’m either reading or writing in my journal and sipping my coffee. I usually read affirmations in the morning because I only try to allow positive thoughts into my mind first thing, it definitely sets the tone for the day. I spend the rest of the day hiking or swimming with River, exploring the mountains is our favorite thing to do. We cook a yummy nutritious dinner. Everything we eat is food I grew myself, and our meat is always from local farms or hunters. We end the day the same place we started, sitting on the porch watching the moon rise over the mountains dreaming up my next adventure!
What does slow fashion mean to you?
Slow fashion is sustainable fashion. Everything about the process from the materials to the person making it creates a positive impact. The materials used are ethically sourced. The creation process supports families, communities, and small businesses. And the product itself is made to last, rather than end up in a landfill after it's worn a few times.
How do you embrace the slow?
I think the biggest thing for myself is setting a daily intention. But mediation, deep breaths, and truly embracing living in the moment are all part of it. It’s still something I need to make a conscious effort to do daily. But living a simple life, and letting go of things that don’t serve a purpose have allowed me to do that.
What is your favorite Mar Y Lana Product?
The Crema pullover poncho! The first time I put it on I felt like I was wrapped up in the softest blanket. It’s perfect for cool summer evenings, and to cozy up in during the winters.
